Name: Mike Garrett
Position: Running Back

Winning Year: 1965 – 31st Award
Official Heisman Profile: Click Here
Interesting Notes: Garrett was the first USC player to win the Heisman Trophy…gained nearly 5,000 all-purpose yards in three seasons at USC…broke nearly all offensive team and conference records by the time he graduated…enjoyed a solid eight year professional football career in Kansas City and San Diego…has been a strong advocate for underprivileged and troubled youth in his hometown…served as Athletic Director at USC from 1993 to 2010…was inducted into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 1985.
Featured Card: 1970 Topps #179. Although Garrett was a two-time All Star, two-time AFL champion, and one-time Super Bowl champion, he had to wait until his Kansas City Chiefs joined in the NFL in 1970 to have his first rookie card. Interestingly enough, despite being a star player and AD for one of America’s favorite college teams and playing a very solid career in the professional ranks, there is only one copy of his rookie card listed on eBay right now and it has 0 bids at $0.99. There are, however, a bunch of copies of his 1971 Topps card available, mostly for less than $10. I don’t know if the recent trouble at USC, all of which occurred during Garrett’s tenure as AD, is affecting his card values or not, but this would seem to be one Heisman Trophy winner you can add to your collection for a bargain.
