Interesting Notes: Lattner was the quintessential multi-purpose weapon as an effective rusher, receiver, punt and kickoff returner, and defensive back…often had his best performances against elite opponents…won Heisman despite not even leading his own team in passing, rushing, receiving, or scoring…signed by Pittsburgh Steelers, but blown knee kept him from realizing his professional potential…was elected to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 1979.

1954 Bowman #128

Featured Card: 1954 Bowman #128. As the best college player in 1953, it only seems natural that Bowman included John Lattner in their 1954 set. Unfortunately, his professional career never panned out. Current eBay prices range from $17.50 to $179.99, although listings greater than $50 are more the exception than the rule. This is just another example of a great vintage rookie card of a college football legend that can be added to your collection for a relative bargain.
