Not so long ago, and almost by accident, I had a chance to meet Curtis Conway. Afterwards, as I was reflecting on the fact that I wish I could have known ahead of time that we would dine together so that I could have had a card and Sharpie ready, I decided to check out what Conway cards I had in my collection. At the time, I was going through a major project of entering all of my cards into a database and I only had 5 of his cards entered, all from boxes I had busted to review on this blog. That seemed like an awfully low number.
As I reflected on our chance meeting, I also noted just how nice of a guy he was — humble, kind, friendly, humerous — and I thought to myself it would be nice if we could have more current and retired players like Curtis. I decided that I would start a Curtis Conway Collection. Afterall, he was the only professional athlete I had ever met face-to-face, and he certainly earned my respect.
